It’s a better ride, period. That’s our short take on the carrier’s new Premium Economy seat, currently being rolled out. The stats: 21 inches wide, 38 inches of pitch (roughly a measure of legroom). To put this in perspective, consider Delta’s BusinessElite seats to Europe: They’re only 18.5 inches wide, but cost two-to-four times more than Virgin’s new seat. It is also wider (by 2.5 inches) than BA’s Premium Economy seat. Virgin’s Premium Economy is now a solid alternative if you can’t find a deal in Business Class or use miles. And, remember, flying on Virgin still nets elite status and mileage credit with Delta, Continental, and US Airways.
Other seat features: dual position footrest, lumbar support, adjustable headrest with wings, and redesigned tray table. All seats on Heathrow flights also have laptop power outlets.
