Save up to $4,575 (39%) to Hawaii with one of the world’s simplest premium travel strategies
Dreaming of a Hawaiian vacation any time soon? We suggest you also dream of a lottery win, Bitcoin price surge, or inheritance from Great Aunt Mirabelle. Yes, that’s right. Along with everything else in these 50 states, Hawaiian prices, flights, AND hotels, are at Mauna Kea levels of altitude, and volcanic levels of magmatude.
So we did what we always do here at FCF — we knocked back some pineapple shave ice, as the Hawaiians call it, and strummed our ukuleles in search of inspiration. It arrived in the form of a package…deal. We actually found a few, saving you between 25% and 39%. That 39%, incidentally, equates to $4,575. Think of how many luaus you could have with that sort of cash tucked under your hula hoop.

Hawaiian High – Published Nonstop Fares Are Peaking
American Example:Phoenix-Maui nonstop Business Class fares are like a newbie’s parasail flight on Waikiki, with fares recently hitting the $2,600-$3,200 range for travel through July, and down to the $1,700-$2,500 range for August through March 2023. Fares during Christmas are running around $3,200 for Business Class seats.
Delta Example: Los Angeles-Maui nonstop Business Class fares recently fell into the $2,383-$2,837 range for travel through July, a handful of dates under $1,500 otherwise $1,940-$2,827 from August through March 2023. Christmas fares jingle between $2,200 and $2,800 for Business Class.
United Example: Chicago-Maui nonstop Business Class fares are currently running at $3,200-$4,336 for travel through July, and $2,646-$4,019 for August through March 2023. Fares during Christmas run about $3,056-$4,019 for Business Class.
Then There’s the Resort
It gets worse. Hotels are charging up to 50% more than normal given the limited supply and pent-up demand when booked separately. So does that mean we have to shelve this Maui idea for the time being? That’s a big ʻaʻole, Hawaiian for “heck no!”
A Packaged Solution That Saves $4,575
As you may have guessed, we often suggest a flight and hotel package deal. These packages are typically negotiated once a year and can offer huge discounts on both flights and hotels. That’s because their contract rates generally don’t fluctuate mid-contract as circumstances do in the “real world” (and boy have they been fluctuating with so many places opening up and inflation at a 40-year high). This is all while airlines are struggling to ramp up their flight numbers by the day.
Here’s an example. If you book The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua, Deluxe room with king bed for seven nights, you’re looking at a price tag of $12,712. Screenshot below.

It’s that precious Hawaiian vacation you haven’t been able to take for a few years, so you add a couple of First Class round-trip tickets on American from Phoenix to Maui. Ka-ching: that’s another $3,699.
It brings you to a grand total of $16,411, and you haven’t even bought a Maui Tiki Tiki yet. Yes, that’s The Ritz-Carlton Maui and two First Class tickets bought separately, as most people do. But if you were to book them as a package through Orbitz, the price tag is only $11,836. A savings of $4,575. Proof here:

Hey, we're just getting warmed up. Pass me some more shave ice because the savings outlined in the chart below are seriously sizzling...
