Two ways around this

  1. When you fly Northwest, elect to earn miles in one of its partners’ programs.
  2. Don’t use a Northwest affinity card, but rather one aligned with a SkyTeam partner. If you have a Starwood card, don’t transfer to WorldPerks miles.
