In April, All Nippon and Japan Airlines began offering low Business Class fares from New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Honolulu to Tokyo — on flights booked three to 21 days in advance, depending on the carrier. American, Continental, Northwest, and United matched fares in many markets.
The good news: Both carriers have extended these special Business Class fares through Sept. 30 — and the pack is still matching in many markets. Fares allow a three-month maximum stay.
All Nippon new routes: Boston, Columbus, Denver, Detroit, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco, and Seattle have been added to the list of cities that qualify for the special fares. Depending on day of departure, fares start at $4,790 to $6,590 from New York, $3,960 to $5,340 from San Francisco.
Japan Airlines new routes: Chicago as well as connecting flights from Austin, Cleveland, Dallas, Detroit, Fayetteville, Houston, Minneapolis, Nashville, Oklahoma City, Pittsburgh, and St. Louis. Fares are comparable to All Nippon’s.
