Free Upgrade on Air Canada’s New Route

The airline is launching seasonal non-stop Montreal-Rome service on June 1, 2007 (through Sept.30). When I learned that Air Canada will use 207-seat Boeing767-200ER aircraft—and wasn’t selling any Business Class seats—I got suspicious. It turns out that the Business Class seats aren’t being removed, they are just not being sold. Instead, we’re told, they’re being assigned to travelers who book an economy class M fare or higher (starting at$2,180; reg. $3,400). The fare is similar for connections from Toronto and Vancouver, even Chicago and Detroit.
