Compare that to about half the flights with Virgin Atlantic and you’ll be thinking about the other rewards you can get instead: Apple iPods with Bose Sound Docks, Tumi Luggage, a dinner party for four at Nobu in New York City, and special treatments at some of the best spas in London and New York. Enroll at www.eosairlines.com. Sign up and travel by March 31, 2006, and you’ll get double base points on all flights AND receive 50,000 bonus points for round-trip travel.

United Airlines-South African Airways Code-Share Discrepancy The agreement begins in April when SAA joins the Star Alliance. And as I said in the Oct. 2005 issue (page 2), new routes (or partnerships) mean new opportunities for award seats and potential fare discrepancies. Here we’re dealing with the latter. Book the Washington D.C.–Jo’burg flight on SAA and you’ll pay $7,215. But book with United and the fare is $6,160. From other U.S. gateways, the fare can be more than $1,500 less on United. Either way, Mileage Plus members earn elite benefits including Elite Qualifying Miles.

Düsseldorf flights, on Airbus 319 aircraft, have 48 seats, which recline to 160 degrees. Lufthansa has been offering the Business Class-only flights since May 2002.
