If you shop carefully for holiday travel, you may find some Continental Airlines discount Business Class airfares from the US to Europe at astonishing low prices.

Last December, Continental offered round-trip discount Business Class airfares for $1,200. Look for them to repeat the offer during this holiday season.

Generally, discount Business Class airfare in this price range for flights to Europe carries heavy restrictions. And you can expect west coast departures to be $700 to $1,500 higher.

But if you can find this discount Business Class airfare, it's usually far better than American Airlines’ and the other carriers’ offerings to the same European cities.

While getting some tickets for Europe recently, I spoke to Continental about the R. Indeed the R will come up, but time in November is limited to around Thanksgiving for one week, both directions. December is a little longer, something like the 15th to the 31st, again, both directions. This is with a 3 week advance purchase. However, the same tickets are available anytime with 50 days advance purchase, space available. I priced up IAH to CDG for about $3000+taxes.

if any one has enough points for a simple upgrade and always find that the seats are not available even 11 months ahead(which I find ) I always start negotiating a price that would accept the points. This winter it was 1200 dollars to go to london from iad (non overnight leave 9AM and arrive 10pm at lhr).It cost 30,000 points and the tickets retail was +/- $8,000.Thats getting money for your points and you get 125% mileage points round trip

I need 4 business or first class tickets from IAH to Johannesburg SA for next July. I have lots of Continental miles but of course, upgrades even this far in advance are not available on CO....any ideas?

I have a meeting in Buenos Aires in mid May. Should I fly direct from Houston to Buenos Aires, or go through another country?
